CloudAEye for Codex

Install the CloudAEye plugin to review code and describe changes in Codex CLI or desktop.

Start with the prerequisites.

1. Install the plugin

Use a current Codex CLI with codex plugin support and an activated account. Run these commands in your terminal, not in chat:

codex plugin marketplace add CloudAEye/claude-plugin
codex plugin add cloudaeye@cloudaeye
codex plugin list

Confirm the plugin is enabled, restart Codex, and start a new chat in the repository you want to review. The desktop Plugins view shows its status. Do not add a duplicate MCP connection, the plugin already supplies one.

2. Authenticate CloudAEye

Agent login and CloudAEye OAuth are separate.

  1. Open the plugin's connection/setup prompt. In desktop, check Settings > MCP servers; in CLI, /mcp lists active servers.
  2. Select Authenticate when required.
  3. Complete browser sign-in, organization selection, and consent.
  4. Return to Codex and confirm the connection is authenticated.

3. Run skills

Enter these in Codex chat, not PowerShell or Bash:

$cloudaeye:init
$cloudaeye:describe

Run Init first and complete repository configuration if requested. Describe summarizes uncommitted changes; it is not a review verdict.

For reviews:

$cloudaeye:inspect
$cloudaeye:review src/auth/ --high
$cloudaeye:review #412

Use $ to select an installed skill if its name does not autocomplete. --high includes high and critical findings. A path limits review coverage.

3.1 Help and Commands

For the complete command catalog, run $cloudaeye:help or see Skills & Commands reference guide.

Update

For a Git-backed installation:

codex plugin marketplace upgrade cloudaeye
codex plugin add cloudaeye@cloudaeye
codex plugin list

Restart Codex and begin a new chat after updating.

Troubleshooting

Problem Action
codex plugin unrecognized Update Codex CLI.
Plugin or skills missing Confirm installation and enabled state; start a new chat and use the $ picker.
Unauthorized tools Complete CloudAEye OAuth, not just agent login.
MCP points to localhost Follow the endpoint check above; a hosted-compatible plugin package is required.
MCP unreachable Check the hosted endpoint and network access.
Expired MCP session Reconnect after a server restart.
setup_required Complete repository integration for the correct organization and branch.
Missing CODE_REVIEW configuration Ask the administrator to configure review models server-side.
Analysis fails or expires Report the error and job ID; do not treat it as a clean review or resubmit automatically.
