Getting Started with Test RCA - Root Cause Analysis of Test Failures


Overview

This guide describes how to set up the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of Test Failures (Test RCA) solution. It covers the following steps:

  • Choose your plan - you may use the free plan
  • Connect your GitHub repositories for an application
  • Connect your CI (GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
  • View root cause analysis of test failures

At the end of this tutorial, you will be able to get started with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of Test Failures solution for your application(s).

Prerequisites

Step 1: Register

Sign up with CloudAEye SaaS.

Setup Test RCA

After you get access to CloudAEye SaaS, do the following steps:

Step 2: Choose your Plan

After you login to CloudAEye SaaS, you will see the Home page.

Welcome

Select Test RCA. Click on the button to start the setup process.

You will see a set of plans.

  • Individual - For individual developers. This is the free plan that developers may use to get started.
  • Team - This is meant for a team (max 20).
  • Enterprise - This is for multiple teams in an Enterprise.

Plans

If you choose a paid plan, you will see pages to setup your credit card.

Step 3: Connect your GitHub Repositories

CloudAEye supports two ways to connect the GitHub repositories for your first application.

Step 3.1: GitHub App

Install CloudAEye DevProd GitHub app. This is the default path.

Step 3.2: GitHub Personal Access Token

If you are unable to use a GitHub app, you may configure GitHub using a GitHub Personal Access Token

Step 4: Connect your CI

CloudAEye offers integration with various CI systems.

Step 4.1: GitHub Actions

Configure GitHub Actions and add webhook(s) for your first application. This will enable CloudAEye to monitor the code pipeline for test failures. If you used GitHub Personal Access Token in the previous step, you have already done this.

Step 4.2: Jenkins

If you are using Jenkins, you may configure the plugin now.

Step 5: View Root Cause Analysis of Test Failures

Step 5.1: CloudAEye Console

View test failure analysis to understand the root cause and proposed fix for each test failures.

Step 5.2: GitHub UI

You may use the integrated GitHub UI to view the test failure analysis.
