Setup Alerts in Grafana

Overview

Grafana dashboard supports setting up alert rules. This topic describes how to setup and view the alerts.

Prerequisites

User must setup a metrics service for the an application and have setup a Grafana dashboard using the setup step.

Setup Alerts

User is able to setup alerts in Grafana by going to Alerting -> Alert Rules.

From Grafana documentation:

Alerts are added and configured in the Alert tab of any dashboard graph panel, letting you build and visualize an alert using existing queries. Remember to save the dashboard to persist your alert rule changes.

View Alerts

Go to "Alerting (bell)" icon -> Alert Rules. All configured alert rules are shown, along with their current state.
